| Automatic Garage Door & Fireplaces is an installing distributor of residential and commercial garage doors and garage door openers; wood, gas and electric fireplaces; and related accessories. We service the Minneapolis and St. Paul Metropolitan Area, portions of Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin from our main office in Champlin, Minnesota and our Summit Home Center retail showrooms in Champlin, Woodbury and Eden Prairie.
Automatic Garage Door was founded in 1971, selling garage door products primarily to the commercial and construction markets, and has grown to become the largest installing garage door distributor in the Twin Cities. We expanded our product line to include fireplaces in the early 1980s in order to meet an emerging demand and provide better service to our existing customer base.
In 1992, Automatic Garage Door & Fireplaces was purchased by Clopay Service Company, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cincinnati, Ohio based Clopay Corporation, known worldwide as a manufacturer of garage doors under the Clopay and Ideal brand names.
Summit Home Center retail fireplace and garage door showrooms were purchased by Automatic Garage Door & Fireplaces in 1996, providing us entry into the residential fireplace and garage door markets.
